Foreign troops will soon receive the latest state-of-the-art war equipment, according to CEO Rosoboronexport Alexander Miheev. So, which country and what will they get?
India will get two frigates from the 1135.6 project (Class Talwar). The two ships were for the Russian Black Sea Fleet, but the Russian military decided not to add to the existing strength.
The ships can be armed with the famous Kalibr cruise missiles, as well as the Oniks anti-ship missile. It is not clear which weapons and ammunition will be sent together with the two ships, but will be known in the coming months.
At the same time, the Russian government reaffirmed at the Army-2018 exhibition that India would get a Triumf S-400 air defense system. The contract will be signed by the end of 2018, although Washington is unhappy and has the potential to impose sanctions on India.
In addition to the S-400 contract, Russia and India are also considering signing an agreement to deliver the first missile from their collaboration, BrahMos to an unnamed Asian country.
Types of exported missiles can reach targets both at sea and land at distances of up to 300 km and fly with 2.8 times the speed of sound. Russia and India are also currently considering cooperation to create a hypersonic version of the missile.
Other large value contracts for Russian defense equipment will be signed with the Philippines. Currently the two countries are negotiating the sale of the Russian “silent killer”, a diesel-powered submarine from the Warshavyanka 636.6 project.
This electric diesel submarine is known as the quietest underwater monster in the world, and is armed with cruise missiles.
Another large Russian arms shipment is scheduled to arrive in Indonesia. This maritime country will get a new 125 mm automatic amphibious artillery system called “Sprut-SDM1”.
Sprut-SDM1 is a perfect anti-tank weapon that can be deployed to the battlefield far behind the enemy’s frontline and capable of eliminating heavy armored enemy vehicles.
