1. Army will get a lethal combination of 5719 Italian and American Sniper Rifles to take on Paki Snipers at the border
Indian Army by later this month will be getting 5,719 sniper rifles from global vendors to replace Soviet-era Dragonov SVD rifles that were procured in the 1990s.

Sources told the Financial Express Online that, “The Indian Army is getting sniper rifles from different vendors including Messers Beretta .338 Lapua Magmum Scorpio TGT of Italy and .50 Calibre Sniper Rifle M95 MS Berrett from the US. They are coming under the Buy Global category. The ammunition for these will be initially procured from abroad; subsequently it will be manufactured in India.”

With Army Chief General Bipin Rawat here on Friday pushing for defence innovations by armed forces personnel for development by the industry, a team of soldiers have created an armed Unmanned Aerial Vehicle for the army, which has been a long pending requirement.

The government has given special attention to stop unutilised water allotted to India under the ‘Indus Waters Treaty’ from entering Pakistan, Union minister Nitin Gadkari said today.

The minister for water resources, river development and Ganga rejuvenation signed an MoU with six chief ministers for the construction of Renukaji Multi-Purpose Dam project in the Upper Yamuna Basin today.

These guns, to be inducted in very large numbers to replace existing Indian Field Guns, would pave the way for the development of nascent private gun manufacturing industry, says Lt Gen Anil Ahuja (Retd) on the eve of Indian Army Day.
