At a time when tension is mounting between India and Pakistan, New Delhi is preparing for any kind of eventuality.

The Indian Army on Saturday carried out drills of anti tank guided missile (ATGM) in a field live fire training exercise undertaken for troops of the Army’s Eastern Command.

An anti-tank guided missile (ATGM), anti-tank missile, anti-tank guided weapon (ATGW) or anti-armor guided weapon is a guided missile primarily designed to hit and destroy heavily armoured military vehicles.

India has recently upped its military equipment. India’s military might was on full display with some newly-acquired weapons and old war horses strutting down Rajpath in the company of military bands and with attack choppers and fighter jets roaring above in the sky — at the Republic Day parade this year.

Newly acquired M777 howitzers and K-9 Vajra self-propelled artillery guns were on public display for the first time along with other weapons at the parade.

The 155mm, 39 calibre ultra-light howitzers have been procured from the US under government to government Foreign Military Sales (FMS) and will be assembled in India by BAE Systems in partnership with Mahindra Defence.

Another new entry this year was that of the Surface Mine Clearing System (SMCS). The system is mounted on Infantry Combat Vehicle BMP-II and can be detached at convenience.

INDIA PAKISTAN TENSION ::

Tension between India and Pakistan heightened in the aftermath of Pulwama terror attack in which 40 CRPF jawans were killed on February 14.

Pakistan-based terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammed claimed responsibility for the attack.

India and Pakistan have, since been, exchanging charges and barbs over who was responsible for the attack. While India accuses Pakistan of harbouring terror groups on its soil, Imran Khan maintains Jaish is nowhere connected with Islamabad.
